Sonic Core SCOPE on Windows 10 (Pulsar I, Pulsar II, Luna, SCOPE)
Recently I had issues on Windows 10 with my very old but still dearly beloved Pulsar I audio interface/ audio card from Sonic Core (formally known as Creamware). Officially products like Sonic Core 6 DSP, Sonic Core 14 DSP, SCOPE, Pulsar I, Pulsar II, Luna, PowerSampler, Elektra, etc. are not supported anymore by Sonic Core. With Pulsar I in my case, I can totally understand that. Pulsar I for example is already very old. I believe I bought mine in 1999 or 2000 – so the card is 16 Years old now!
Nevertheless the Pulsar I was allays working and I still like the concept and it’s features. So I was very curious if it will work with Windows 10 … and it did NOT :(
Then I searched the internet and finally found the solution on the PlanetZ Forum.
In basic words, the issue is the driver signature enforcement in windows 10. This means that Windows will only accept and load drivers that have been signed by Microsoft.
Now, how can I force Windows to ignore the driver signature enforcement?
Fortunately there is an option to do that: “DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS”
I did several tests and finally I could install Sonic Core SCOPE PCI on my Windows 10 without any issue. Here is a little step by step guide:
Install Sonic Core Scope on Windows 10
- Before you start the Sonic Core Scope installer please disable the integrity check on windows 10 by opening the command prompt (CMD) as Administrator
- Execute the two commands:
bcdedit -set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING ON - Now restart Windows! Without a reboot it will not work.
- After the system was rebooted, install the Sonic Core Scope installer as Administrator.
- Now execute the installer as usual.
- Finally the diver setup will start and find the proper driver.
- Restart the machine again.
Now Sonic Core Scope is installed and you are ready to play :)

I have old 2002 version 6 dsp pulsar 2
I need help can u contact me ?
gronom9@gmail.com
Pulsar 6 dsp card still going strong in 2021, all the software they release still supports it – providing you have motherboard with a PCI slot and compatable chipset. Z87 chipset works great
Hi.I have the pulsar 2 too. i haven;t used it in years. it is still sitting in my old PC. i have a new PC too (msi b550 mobo and and 5600x processor) – will this support the card or do I need to run it from my old PC? if so how would I do that?
other question is, and it’s a big one, can anyone point me to all of the software please? I’m guessing it is abandon ware by now so have a feeling it is ok to share the software with me, especially as you have to have the hardware to run it so the fact that I do proves my authenticity(?). pm me if you can – stevingo@gmail.com
Hello Ste,
If your board has a PCI slot you should be able to install and run pulsar 2 (as my pulsar 1 is also running fine with the latest win10)
Software wise I´d check this website http://scope.zone/?lg=de and ask the guys from sonic core. They will help you out I guess.
Cheers
Max
Anyone knows if it works with VCV rack and Linux64?
Hi, very good question. I guess it should work.
Why don’t you give it a try?
Cheers

Salu2!
Hello Miguel Angel .. my name is Guillermo
I wanted to know if you managed to get your pulsar card working in windows.
After 18 years, I have installed Pulsar I in windows 10. Scope 4.0 (the old version that I had), it does not work for me in windows 10 and they have left me a temporary license for Scope 7.0 of 100h.
The pulsar seems to work with Scope 7.0.
The problem is that once the Cakewalk card is installed it no longer works for me. Cakewalk doesn’t seem to recognize “sonic Scope Pulsar” drivers.
Has anyone managed to get pulsar I to work on windows 10 and other sequencers?
I appreciate any help
Hello Guillermo Pacheco,
maybe a dump question, but have you tried to start your sequencer with admin rights?
I´ve tested Pulsar I with
Cubase 9. Cubase 10 and Cubase 11
Ableton Live 11
FL Studio 20
these are all working fine.
Cheers
Max
